Curated Yamaguchi Tour
Yamaguchi Prefecture is one of Japan's hidden gems that remains relatively undiscovered. While working on a local government tourism project, I've had the opportunity to appreciate the charm of Yamaguchi Prefecture from the perspective of both a resident living outside the prefecture and as someone deeply engaged with overseas travelers. Over the course of nearly three years, I've developed a profound affection for the warm hospitality of the people of Yamaguchi and the unpretentious nature of its tourism offerings. Situated between Hiroshima and Kyushu, on the southwestern tip of Honshu, Yamaguchi Prefecture is surrounded by beautiful seas and mountains, nurturing its own unique culture. Despite its convenient transportation links, it remains relatively unknown. I invite you to explore the artistic and local side of Yamaguchi Prefecture, offering an escape from the bustling metropolises.
Yamaguchi Prefecture boasts a variety of treasures. From historic sake breweries to the rustic and inviting aesthetic of Hagi pottery, from quaint hot spring towns to bustling fish markets surrounded by the sea on three sides, the prefecture offers an abundance of seafood. Influenced by both Buddhist and Christian cultures from the continent, Yamaguchi has cultivated its own unique culture and aesthetic over its rich history. Additionally, the presence of young creatives, who cherish and uphold the traditions passed down through generations, cannot be overlooked.
